Tell Your Senator To Support The Marijuana Freedom and Opportunity Act!

It’s time to take action blogees!

Clear As Smoke is joining NORML in urging everyone to take a few minutes to write to their senator to cosponsor Senate bill 3174, the Marijuana Freedom and Opportunity Act, today! Not only does this bill federally decriminalize cannabis but also enforces the same type of advertising from cannabis companies as tobacco and alcohol to prevent promoting to children. Additionally, the bill will provide $100 million over 5 years for states to administer expungement or record sealing programs! Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer introduced the bill and it has gained support from Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth.

This bill means more job opportunities, more scientific developments in marijuana research, more revenue and resources, and of course, more natural relief through cannabis! The good folks at NORML are encouraging everyone to get involved, take action by calling out your senators! We want SB3174!

Copy of letter:

As your constituent, I urge you to support and cosponsor the Marijuana Freedom and Opportunity Act, S. 3174, which removes marijuana from the Controlled Substances Act and provides funding for the expungement of criminal records for those with past marijuana convictions.

Passage of this legislation is necessary to resolve the existing and ever-growing state/federal divide over marijuana policy. Thirty-one states regulate medical marijuana use and nine states regulate the plant’s use, production, and sale for all adults.

Sixty-eight percent of registered voters — including majorities of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents — “support the legalization of marijuana,” and 73% support expunging the records of those previously convicted of marijuana-related offenses. according to 2018 nationwide polling data.

Marijuana Freedom and Opportunity Act is supported by voters and comports with the changing legal, cultural, and political status of marijuana and those who consume it responsibly. I urge you to support and cosponsor this legislation.

Signed, sealed, now go get it delivered!
